For London employers

DSE assessments for your London team

If your staff use a screen for much of the working day, the law expects you to assess their workstations. Our osteopaths treat desk-related pain every week, so we know what a poor setup does to the body and how to fix it.

Who needs one

Anyone who spends the day at a screen

A DSE assessment reviews how a person uses their screen, chair, desk, keyboard and mouse, then records the risks and what needs to change.

  • Staff who use a screen for an hour or more at a time, most days
  • New starters, ideally when they join
  • Anyone whose desk, role or equipment has changed
  • Hybrid and home workers, because you stay responsible for their setup
  • Anyone reporting neck, shoulder, back, wrist or eye strain

Why osteopath-led

More than a checklist

A checklist can tell you a screen is too low. An osteopath can also see how that person actually moves and sits, spot early signs of strain and explain what is causing it.

That means fewer generic recommendations and more changes that make a real difference to how people feel by the end of the day.

How it works

Three simple steps

1

Tell us about your team

Send us the number of people, where they work and any known problems.

2

We assess each workstation

Each assessment takes 30 to 60 minutes. We visit your office.

3

You receive the reports

A written outcome for each person, and a short summary of anything needing action across the business.

Office, hybrid and home

Home setups are often the weakest

Dining chairs, laptops on low tables and no separate keyboard are common. We can assess home workers in person where that makes sense, and tell you what is worth changing and what is not.

Office staff and hybrid teams get the same one to one approach, so everyone is covered the same way.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Is a DSE assessment a legal requirement?

Yes. Under the Health and Safety (Display Screen Equipment) Regulations 1992, employers must assess the workstations of people who use DSE as a significant part of their normal work and act on the risks found.

How often should DSE assessments be repeated?

When someone starts, when their workstation or work changes, when they report discomfort, and as a regular review. Many employers review at least once a year.

Do home workers need an assessment?

Yes. If you ask someone to work from home regularly, the same duty applies to their home workstation.

Do employers have to pay for eye tests?

Employers must provide an eye and eyesight test for DSE users who ask for one, and contribute to glasses where they are needed specifically for screen work. We do not carry out eye tests, so an optician would be needed.

Can you also treat staff who are in pain?

Yes. If an assessment shows someone is already struggling, they can book an osteopathy appointment at the clinic. Our guide to osteopathy for workplace pain explains what we treat.
